1. Go to www.annualcreditreport.com. Make sure you are trying to get a "report" not a "score". The report is free (one per year); however the "score" is not.

2. Select your state and then click REQUEST REPORT.

3. Fill in your personal information (first name, last name, date of birth, social security number, and current address).

  • If you have not lived at your current address for at least 2 years, you will also need to include your previous address.

4. Click CONTINUE.

5. Select each of the three (3) different credit reporting companies (Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian).

6. Click NEXT.

7. Click NEXT to continue. You will be transferred to the Equifax website.

  • When you are finished at the Equifax website, click on Return to AnnualCreditReport.com located in the menu bar at the top of the screen.

~ EQUIFAX WEBSITE INSTRUCTIONS~

8. Enter the last 4 digits of your social security number.

9. Click on Click to Continue.

10. Answer the security questions which are based on information in your file.

11. Click on Click to Continue.

12. Click on the Get Started link.

13. Print and Save Report.

14. To save your credit report as a PDF, click on Save as PDF. Save to your hard drive or disk. To print your report, click Print Report.

NOTE: When you view your credit report, make sure that you save and print it BEFORE you close the credit report window or continue to the next page/segment/step. If you close the window before printing, you cannot view it again for free.

15. Once you have saved and/or printed your Equifax credit report, click on Return to AnnualCreditReport.com at the top of the screen.

16. A new window will open. To obtain the next report from another credit reporting company, click on the link www.annualcreditreport.com. (If you accidentally clicked on Return to AnnualCreditReport.com, simply click the link return to your report.)

17. Select your state and then click REQUEST REPORT.

18. Select TransUnion.

19. Fill in your personal information (first name, last name, date of birth, social security number, and current address).

20. Click NEXT.

21. Click NEXT to continue. You will be transferred to the TransUnion website.

~TRANSUNION WEBSITE INSTRUCTIONS~

22. Verify that the information displayed is accurate. Then click CONTINUE.

23. Verify your identity by answering the questions. Then click NEXT.

24. Print the credit report.

25. Save the report.

  • To save the report in Internet Explorer 9: Click on the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner.  Select File > Save As.  In the Save Webpage box, type a file name and select "Webpage, complete" for the file type.
  • To save the report in Firefox, select File (in the menu bar) > Save Page As. In the "Save As" box, type a file name and select "Webpage, complete" for the file type.

26. Once you have saved and printed your TransUnion credit report, click on "Return to AnnualCreditReport.com" at the top of the screen.

27. Select your state and then click REQUEST REPORT.

28. Select Experian.

29. Fill in your personal information (first name, last name, date of birth, social security number, and current address).

30. Click NEXT.

31. Click NEXT to continue. You will be transferred to the Experian website.

~EXPERIAN WEBSITE INSTRUCTIONS~

32. Enter the last 4 digits of your social security number.

33. Click SUBMIT.

34. On Step 1 "Start", click ANNUAL CREDIT REPORT.

35. On Step 2 "Order Summary", click SUBMIT.

36. On Step 3 "Identity Verification", click in the circle which selects your choice for each of four questions, then click on CONTINUE.

37. On "Report Summary", click on the Print your report link (as shown below).

38. Click on the  button on the right hand side of the screen.

39. Print the Report. Save Report as a pdf through printer options.
